Soil conservation efforts in China's Three Gorges region boost ecosystem health.
Soil conservation services are crucial for maintaining ecological balance in the Three Gorges Reservoir region of China. By analyzing ecosystem services, researchers found that soil conservation values increased in the northeastern part of the area, particularly in counties from Yunyang to Zigui. Slope was a key factor influencing soil conservation services, explaining 63% of the variability. These findings highlight the importance of soil conservation in preventing land deterioration and river sedimentation, ultimately contributing to ecosystem management and wellbeing in the region.
