The study looked at how the size of an area affects the way different types of buildings are grouped together in Tokyo. They found that the way buildings are grouped together changes depending on the size of the area being studied. However, the overall trends in how buildings are grouped together stay similar across different sizes. If the number of building types is reduced, less information is lost when studying different area sizes.
