National Assembly Act Amendment Leads to Delayed Legislation Process.
The 2012 National Assembly Act Amendment aimed to prevent violence during legislative sessions. The new system introduced an agenda coordination committee, changing how bills are processed. The study found that bills took longer to pass in the 19th National Assembly compared to the 18th. Chairpersons from the ruling party no longer process bills faster than those from the opposition party. There are more cosponsorship activities in the 19th Assembly, and more bills on the same issue are submitted. The delay in bill passage was attributed to the agenda coordination committee, which can be requested by opposition parties to propose an agenda.
