Ethnocentrism linked to societal alienation, not individual well-being.
The study found that feeling happy as an individual is different from how you see society. Even though people in Western countries generally feel happy, some also feel disconnected from their community. Your personal well-being can influence how you view society, but being ethnocentric can make you feel less connected to a diverse society. This means that even if you are happy with your own life, you might feel alienated from the society around you if you are ethnocentric.
