Social Security benefits impact older women's employment status significantly.
The study looked at how receiving Social Security retirement benefits affects older women's employment. They used data from the Health and Retirement Study from 2000-2006. The results showed that receiving Social Security benefits, pension income, and being older reduced the likelihood of employment. On the other hand, having a higher education level, good health, and being unmarried increased the chances of being employed. Additionally, the older a woman was when she started receiving Social Security benefits, the more likely she was to be employed.
