Revolutionary Wastewater Treatment Process Achieves 80% Nitrogen Removal Rate
Researchers studied a new way to clean wastewater using submerged net plates with microbes. They tested it on artificial and municipal wastewater. The process worked better than traditional methods, reducing BOD levels from 200 mg/l to 20 mg/l even with high pollution levels. Nitrogen removal was over 80% effective when the water temperature and retention time were high. Recycling water and having a high index value also improved nitrogen removal.
