Researchers in Oklahoma studied how cowpeas grow with and without added nitrogen fertilizer. They looked at the roots and seed yields of the plants. They found that cowpeas grown with or without added nitrogen did not show significant differences in root characteristics or seed yields. This means that the presence or absence of added nitrogen fertilizer did not change how cowpea roots grow or how many seeds they produce.
