The researchers used a model to study pollution in Xixi Watershed. They found that nitrogen and phosphorus pollution was evenly distributed from 1973 to 1979. Most pollution occurred during the flood season. Farmland and orchards had the highest pollution levels. Critical pollution areas were identified in several towns.
