Boosting goat sperm with cholesterol improves fertility rates post-thawing
Adding cholesterol-loaded cyclodextrin to fresh goat sperm before freezing improves sperm quality after thawing. The researchers tested different amounts of CLC and found that adding 0.75 mg resulted in higher motile sperm percentages compared to other amounts. Sperm treated with 6.0 and 7.0 mg of CLC showed more coiling. The addition of 0.75 mg of CLC also increased the number of sperm binding to the perivitelline membrane after freezing. Overall, adding CLC improved sperm motility and binding efficiency in goat sperm for up to 2 hours after thawing.
