Higher leaf:fruit ratio boosts mango quality, leading to sweeter, juicier fruits.
The researchers studied how different amounts of leaves on mango trees affect fruit quality. They looked at three leaf-to-fruit ratios: 25, 50, and 100. They found that more leaves led to bigger fruits, with the 100 ratio producing the largest fruits. As the fruits grew, they became less acidic but had more dry matter and sugars. Higher leaf ratios also increased levels of carbohydrates like starch and sugars in the fruit. The type of acids in the fruit changed depending on the leaf ratio. Additionally, potassium was the most abundant mineral in the mango pulp.
