Drought-stressed Gazania plants show decreased photosynthesis, impacting landscape resilience.
The study looked at how drought affects the photosynthesis of Gazania rigens plants. Three different cultivars were tested, and their photosynthetic values were measured under drought conditions. The results showed that as the plants experienced drought, their photosynthetic rates decreased, and some leaves turned yellow. One cultivar, 'Hongwen', showed poor resistance to drought, while 'Xingbai' had strong resistance. The hybrid cultivar, 'XH', fell in between its parents. This research helps in understanding how different Gazania plants respond to drought, which can be useful for breeding more resistant varieties for landscaping purposes.
