Berseem-wheat silage boosts nutrient intake and digestibility in heifers.
A study looked at feeding crossbred heifers different types of silage to see how well they digested and used nutrients. They found that heifers fed with berseem-wheat straw silage and molasses had higher protein intake and better nutrient digestibility compared to those fed with conventional ration or other types of silage. This means that using this type of silage can help maintain nutrient intake and reduce the need for concentrates in heifers during lean periods.
