The Shapley value, a measure of expected return in cooperative games, is usually limited to games where all coalitions are equally likely. However, a new approach allows for more complex games where players' roles affect coalition likelihood. This extended Shapley value can capture these nuances and provide a fairer distribution of rewards among players.
