Bat species in South Africa demonstrate unique roosting behavior in caves.
The study looked at how five different bat species use a cave in South Africa. They found that each species had their own preferred areas within the cave, with some bats using it for breeding in summer and others for shelter in winter. One species, M. schreibersii, was the most common and liked the warmest parts of the cave. This shows that bats can share a roosting space by using different parts of it at different times.
