Organophosphorus insecticide impacts invertebrates in prairie wetland ecosystem.
In a prairie wetland, researchers studied how insecticide and nutrients affected invertebrates living in water plants. The insecticide killed some bugs quickly, but also led to more rotifers and copepods. Adding nutrients didn't change the plants much, but did increase algae and plant cover. Overall, the insecticide had a bigger impact on the invertebrates than the nutrients did.
