Plenum temperature is crucial for calculating pressure in nuclear fuel rods. Current methods may not capture temperature changes during accidents. Researchers used COMSOL software to simulate heat transfer in the plenum and developed a new model to integrate with fuel performance codes. The new model was validated against COMSOL and FUPAC code, showing accurate results.
