The researchers developed a method to predict wind speed and direction using wind rose data, without needing extensive meteorological information. They applied this method to analyze wind patterns at Zhifudao Observation Station in Yantai and found strong correlations with actual wind data. The statistical models created were reliable and accurately predicted wind power output for a 2 MW vertical-axis wind turbine.
