Researchers investigated using ferromanganese nodules from the Gulf of Finland to remove sulfur dioxide from power plant exhaust gases. They studied the material's properties when heated at different temperatures and found that higher humidity increased its ability to absorb sulfur dioxide. Samples with over 40% humidity showed promise for effective sulfur dioxide removal.
