Man-made tropical forests losing up to 73% of rainfall interception.
Researchers studied how rainfall is intercepted by man-made forests in Bukit Lagong Reserved Forest. They found that the forest canopy cover plays a significant role in the amount of rainfall intercepted, with a range of 1% to 73% of total rainfall being intercepted. The more canopy cover, the more rainfall is intercepted. The study showed that on average, 30% of the total rainfall is intercepted by the forest canopy.
