Irregular terrain tracking breakthrough: Camera control system overcomes image deformation for robust target tracking.
Tracking a target with a camera on a bumpy surface is hard because the camera moving and the target's motion make it tricky. One way to help is by comparing the target image with different transformed images, but this can be slow. The new method called Robustness Analysis for Tracking (RAT) looks at the target image to find better templates before tracking. This makes tracking more accurate.
