Simplified solar heat gain calculation for windows with shading devices boosts energy efficiency.
This study presents a simpler way to figure out how much heat comes into buildings through windows with different shading options. By comparing how much heat gets in with shading versus without, the researchers found a formula to estimate the heat gain for different types of windows and shades. They discovered that for external roller shades, you can calculate the heat gain using the window's properties and the shade's transparency. For internal roller shades, it's based on the window's properties and how much light the shade reflects. Venetian blinds also have a formula, but accuracy depends on the angle of the blinds. Overall, this method provides a quick way to predict solar heat gain through windows with shading, making it easier to design energy-efficient buildings.
