New image enhancement method retains more details, improves image quality.
Histogram equalization is a method used in image processing to improve image contrast by adjusting the distribution of gray values. Traditional methods can cause loss of image details due to merging of gray values. A new approach called gray value retention histogram equalization has been developed to address this issue. By using a Measure of Medium Truth Degree, this method determines whether retaining high or low gray levels is more beneficial for enhancing image quality.
