Red tides caused by Cochlodinium polykrikoides dinoflagellates can harm marine environments. A study in Korean waters found that these blooms also contain other species like Polykrikos and diatoms. Parasitic dinoflagellates were also present. This shows that multiple species can coexist in these harmful algal blooms.
