New maize hybrid shows promise for improved grain yield and quality.
Researchers studied different maize genotypes to understand which ones were best for improving grain yield and other important traits. They found that certain maize lines, like DHK-12-2091 and DHK-12-2003, were good combiners for traits like grain yield, kernel rows per cob, and protein content. The cross DHK-12-2141 × DHK-12-2047 showed promise for many traits, but did not show significant improvement in grain yield per plant. These findings can help breeders choose the best maize lines for future breeding programs.
