New model accurately predicts runoff and sediment yield in diverse watersheds.
The researchers tested a model to predict runoff and sediment yield in eleven different watersheds with varying land uses. They used a method that combines two models to estimate how much water and sediment would flow from each watershed during storms. The results showed that the model was accurate in predicting both runoff and sediment yield, with efficiency ranging from 54.23% to 96.12% for runoff and 60.42% to 92.99% for sediment yield. This means the model did a good job in estimating how much water and sediment would come from the watersheds, which is important for managing water resources and preventing soil erosion.
