Soil quality indicators were studied to monitor British soils for their ability to support ecosystem services. Physical properties like soil density, water retention, and erosion rate were tested for their reliability in indicating soil quality. Seven indicators were found to be effective, including soil structure and depth. These indicators can help track changes in soil quality over time and space, making them valuable for soil monitoring programs.
