Boosting Corn Yields and Profits with Long-Term Nutrient Management
A 50-year study on corn farming showed that using both nitrogen and phosphorus fertilizers together significantly increased grain yield compared to using them alone. The optimal nitrogen rate for maximum profit was around 172-180 kg per hectare, depending on the phosphorus level. Applying phosphorus along with nitrogen led to higher recovery of both nutrients in the grain. Overall, the study highlighted the importance of long-term nutrient management in improving crop productivity and profitability.
