Fish Diversity Thriving in Euphrates River, Revealing Unique Ecosystems.
The study looked at the types of fish and where they were found in two areas along the Euphrates River in Iraq. They collected fish every month for a year and found a total of 19 different species. One site had more fish than the other, with the most common species being from the cyprinodae family. Some fish were rare, while others were more common like Barbus luteus, Crassius auratus, Cyprinus carpio, and Liza abu. The site with the most diverse fish was station 1. Overall, the fish in the two areas had different characteristics in terms of species richness, abundance, and size.
