Reviving Sandy Beaches: Innovative Method Restores Coastline for Protection.
Researchers studied how to restore a sandy beach in Sagara-Suzuki coast using a model that considers grain size changes. They calculated beach changes from 1977 to 2014 and predicted future changes. The optimal method to restore a 30m wide beach in front of a tsunami seawall involved placing 9 breakwaters with a height of 2m at intervals of 350-400m and nourishing the beach with about 800,000 cubic meters of sand sourced from a nearby area.
