Intercropping Bt cotton with legumes like soybean and greengram can increase seed cotton yield and soil fertility. In a study on black soil, Bt cotton intercropped with soybean had the highest yield, followed by Bt cotton with greengram. These intercropping systems also led to higher profits and better nitrogen levels in the soil compared to growing Bt cotton alone. Intercropping can be a profitable and sustainable way to improve crop yield and soil health in rainfed conditions.
