New Indian bean varieties promise higher yields and better nutrition.
The researchers studied 64 types of Indian beans to see how they vary and which traits are related to higher green pod yield. They found that some traits like plant height and seed yield showed a lot of variation among the beans. The days to last picking had the highest heritability estimate. The green pod yield per plant was strongly correlated with traits like seed yield, plant height, and pod length. This means that beans with certain characteristics tend to produce more green pods.
