Goat sperm analysis methods could revolutionize fertility assessment and boost livestock productivity.
The study looked at different ways to check the quality of sperm in South African indigenous goats. They found that certain methods, like checking sperm motility and using specific stains, were closely related to each other. For example, live sperm seen with one stain was linked to sperm movement, and intact acrosome (a part of the sperm) was connected to sperm motility. Other tests, like checking sperm membrane integrity and DNA integrity, also showed strong relationships with sperm quality. Overall, these methods can help predict the fertility of goat sperm and are useful for assessing individual sperm cells.
