Soil erosion from Indian agricultural plots threatens nutrient loss and water quality.
The study looked at how rainfall affects runoff, soil erosion, and nutrient loss on agricultural plots in Roorkee, India. They found that plots with sugarcane had the highest runoff and soil loss, followed by maize, fallow land, and black gram. Nutrient losses were higher in dissolved form than in sediment. Sediment and runoff water had more nutrients during critical periods. The seasonal sediment yield was below the soil loss tolerance limit for India.
