Optimal spacing and nitrogen levels boost maize yield for higher food production.
Spacing and nitrogen levels were studied to see how they affect the yield of maize. The researchers tested different spacings and nitrogen amounts on a specific maize variety. They found that using 150 kg of nitrogen per hectare and a spacing of 75 cm x 25 cm resulted in the highest grain yield. The closer spacing of 50 cm x 20 cm with lower nitrogen levels produced the lowest yield. This means that for better maize production, it is recommended to plant maize at a spacing of 75 cm x 25 cm and use 150 kg of nitrogen per hectare.
