Flawed Doha Round Threatens Global Trade Stability, WTO Credibility at Risk
The GATT was successful in reducing industrial tariffs, but had issues with rules on protection. The WTO was created in 1994 to promote free trade globally. The Doha Round of negotiations faced problems due to reluctance to further liberalize trade and flawed methodology. Improvements are needed to maintain the credibility of the WTO as a negotiating platform.
