Silicon Saves Plants from Toxic Cadmium, Promising Healthier Crops.
The study looked at how adding silicon to the soil can help reduce the harmful effects of cadmium on maize plants. By using special measurements of chlorophyll fluorescence, the researchers found that silicon can lessen the damage caused by cadmium, even when other plant measurements don't show a big change. The special measurements also showed that silicon can stop cadmium from moving to the top part of the plants.
