Intelligent Control

A new coating system was developed to protect carbon/carbon composites from ablation. The system includes layers of ZrC-SiC, ZrC-LaB6, and ZrC, each serving different functions. The multilayer coating showed significantly improved ablation resistance compared to single-layer coatings. The ZrC-SiC layer protected against oxidation, the ZrC-LaB6 layer promoted stable scale formation, and the ZrC layer provided a foundation against scouring. Overall, the multilayer coating system demonstrated superior protection for carbon/carbon composites during ablation.
