Municipal bond insurance has been around since the 1970s and helps protect against default, boosting bond ratings and attracting more investors. Different types of municipal bonds can affect the need for insurance. Insured bonds reduce risks for issuers, underwriters, and investors. In Serbia, introducing municipal bond insurance could improve the market. The authors used a comparative method to explore these topics.
