Geothermal energy breakthrough in Durkov to power Kosice central heating!
The researchers investigated the Durkov geothermal structure to see if it could be used for geothermal energy. They drilled three wells to test the potential for heating the town of Kosice. The wells showed that there is a geothermal reservoir with hot water at a depth of 2100-3200 meters. The water has high mineral content and needs to be reinjected after use. The heat from the water will be used to warm up Kosice through a central heating system. To make this happen, they will need to drill more wells.
