Ancient seabed discoveries reveal potential oil and gas reservoir areas.
The study looked at sedimentary rocks from the Middle-Late Cambrian period in the Sichuan Basin and nearby areas. By analyzing field data, researchers found that the area had a rimmed carbonate platform with different types of platforms and slopes. They also discovered that the western part of the region became flat, while the eastern and southwestern parts were still connected to the open sea. The shallow water was not moving much, and there were changes in sea levels that affected the development of beach areas. The study suggests that certain beach zones could be good places to find oil and gas reserves.
