Groundwater recharge in Poland calculated at 34,118 km3 per year.
Groundwater recharge in Poland was evaluated using the infiltration coefficient method. The researchers aimed to verify infiltration coefficient values by comparing different approaches. They found that total groundwater recharge from precipitation in Poland is 34,118 km3 per year, which equals 109.3 mm of water. Recharge makes up 18.6% of average precipitation in Poland. The infiltration coefficient method provided results close to those obtained by other more complex methods, showing its accuracy in estimating groundwater recharge.
