Boosting goat sperm with cholesterol improves fertility after freezing
Adding cholesterol-loaded cyclodextrin to fresh goat sperm before freezing improves sperm quality after thawing. The researchers tested different amounts of CLC and found that adding 0.75 mg resulted in higher motility of sperm after thawing compared to other amounts. Sperm treated with 6.0 and 7.0 mg of CLC showed more coiling. Additionally, sperm treated with 0.75 mg of CLC had a higher binding capacity to the perivitelline membrane. Overall, adding 0.75 mg of CLC to goat sperm before freezing improved sperm motility for up to 2 hours after thawing.
