Unveiling Peru's Conservation Narratives: Key to Effective Biodiversity Governance
Biodiversity loss is a big problem worldwide. Countries are making plans to protect biodiversity, especially in poorer, biodiverse areas. To make sure these plans work, we need to understand how policies are made in these countries. One study in Peru found five different groups with different ideas about how to protect biodiversity. These groups have different views on where biodiversity fits in with human life, how to value it, who should be involved, and how to use natural resources. Another study looked at how these groups have changed over time and how they talk about biodiversity. A third study found that local experts in Peru have important knowledge about why biodiversity is being lost.
