Urban Biodiversity Decline Threatens Climate Resilience and Public Health
Urban areas benefit from biodiversity by providing ecosystem services that improve human well-being, but rapid urbanization is harming these services. Protecting and restoring urban biodiversity can enhance the well-being of city dwellers. Current international conservation efforts focus on rural areas, neglecting urban conservation. The study examines scientific practices for protecting urban ecosystem services and evaluates international legal instruments for biodiversity protection.
