University Lecture Halls Harness Solar Power, Slashing Energy Costs by $40,000 Annually
The researchers examined how solar panels integrated into a building at Bahir Dar University can save on power costs. By fitting the panels into the structure, they act as building material while generating free energy from sunlight. The total initial cost for the solar materials is 176,815. This cost is $40,185.2 less than the electricity bill from the national grid. By using this Building Integrated Photovoltaic System (BIPV), the university can reduce energy expenses while accommodating a large student and staff population.
