Optimal conditions for prawn larvae survival and growth revealed.
The researchers studied how temperature and salt levels affect the survival and growth of Metapenaeus dalli larvae. They found that higher temperatures led to faster development but lower survival rates. The larvae did best at around 25.8°C and a salt level of 35‰. Changes in salt levels had a bigger impact on survival than temperature. Lower salt levels decreased survival rates, with the lowest level tested having the worst effect. Overall, the best conditions for the larvae were at 25.8°C and a salt level of 35‰.
