Corruption and delays plague Ghanaian building sector procurement practices.
The article explores challenges in implementing the Public Procurement Act in Ghana's building sector. The researchers used a quantitative method with data from 68 Metropolitan and Municipal Assemblies in Greater Accra. They found that corruption, political interference, payment delays, low salaries, compliance issues, and overpricing are major barriers to effective procurement practices. This study provides valuable insights for consultants, contractors, project sponsors, investors, and organizations involved in infrastructure development.
