Optimizing PV cell coverage boosts solar system thermal efficiency to 68%
The researchers studied how covering a water-heating solar collector with photovoltaic cells affects its thermal efficiency. They created a model and tested four prototypes with different levels of PV cell coverage. The results showed that optimizing the coverage can increase the thermal efficiency of the system to 68%. The experiments demonstrated that prototypes with higher PV cell coverage achieved better thermal efficiencies, heating 250 liters of water to 50°C.
