Extensive time in early child care may not always lead to behavior problems in children. Some studies show mixed results and suggest that high child care quantity might not cause externalizing problems. The research also points out that relying too much on U.S. samples limits the generalizability of the findings. To make studies more relevant, researchers should consider the different challenges families face today when looking at child-care quantity.
