Albanian rivers show fair to good water quality based on macroinvertebrates.
The researchers studied the water quality of three rivers in Albania by looking at the insects living in the water and measuring nutrient levels. They found that the water quality was mostly fair to good based on the number and types of insects present. The levels of nitrogen and phosphorus in the water also helped determine the quality. Different insects can tolerate different levels of pollution, which can indicate how clean or polluted the water is.
